Not to pick on anyone but in numerous threads people have commented on how fast their cart may go, or needing it to go faster and many other questions..

In no way take this as a rant and I understand we are all here for the same hobby.

But

I feel this website and members have a vast knowledge about these karts we enjoy. And give many tools and insights on what to do or where to start..

Could I simply add one tool to help answer many riders/ drivers seat time...

Tools / items needed...

Zip ties (depending on mounting location)
Automotive gps ( just borrow your car's or use your cellular phone)

Now with any possibility of having the question of how fast your cart will go, simply turn on GPS once mounted and go out and have some fun in a safe area..

The GPS will say what speed your traveling.

Most gps's have fastest speed recorded also, I've tested this with my Zx12..

I just don't want to hear if anyone getting hit by a car, moped, motorcycle or any other item that they were judging there speed by. The GPS is much simpler to do

Sorry if I offended anyone

Before I fitted my kart with a speedometer, I used my car gps. Please do note that by nature, a gps cannot react and record instantly. Some time is needed to calculate the results from the satellite data. When using a gps, I take several (usually 6-10) looong passes of 30 second or a minute each, in either direction. Then, I compile the recorded maximum speeds and dive by the number of passes to attain an average top speed. I feel that nothing short of this is accurate enough.

Glad to see some have already use similar methods that I do...

Toystory: I do the same thing.. Once I feel my kart is not picking up any more speed I simly count to 10.. Get my reading, reset it and do some more.
