If you bought that... I shall hate you for eternity! That's awesome! I wish I could make my frame look like that!

Time to put it on the road! Do you know what engine that is?

Edit: Looks like a Vokeswagon 1400 or 1500. I have a 1600. Didn't recognize it for some reason.

Edit 2: Jeez, I cannot read for my life. 1600.

Very cool! Me and my dad built a Berrien rail for me all through high school. I was a bonehead though and traded it off when it was 90% complete because I wanted something I could ride right then. You'll love that thing. Spend some bucks and you can really tweak those vw engines out. Wheelie machines! Dont get yourself in trouble with it. You should definately keep us updated.

Here's a link for parts

http://www.berrienbuggy.com/

And here's another forum loaded with vw info. Don't bail on us though.

Wheelies? Darn, we haven't added any mods. I heard on Wheeler Dealers that you can double the HP with engine mods, but I still don't see how it could have a ton of power with the average acceleration of 10+ seconds.

:)Average my butt! Stock yeah but you can make those things insane for a very reasonable price compared to anything else. You can double the horsepower and then some if youll spend the money. Super light to. Let's just say I've seen many of them I wouldn't even consider trying to race with my mustang GT. Seriously. We had a guy in my town when I was a kid that had one all built up. He'd stand that thing up at the stop lights through downtown. His name is VW Jerry. He restores Manx style buggy's, rails, trikes, things, and busses. Dude digs anything vw. His yard looks like the vw graveyard. Pretty sure he got busted on the stoplight wheelstands but that was what planted the want for one in my head. I thought that guy was the **** when I was a kid. If the oppurtunity ever pops up on a full bodied street legal one for a good price I'll buy it. Problem is Jerry buys about every old vw thats priced right around here. Everyone knows where to take them and he wants a million dollars for everything he owns. Next time I ride by his house I'll snap a pic. His yard is very impressive.

Also check out JC Whitney for engine parts. Place has really good prices on engine parts. Call them they'll send you the VW catalog. They have a distribution center and store about 20 minutes from me. This is where I bought all my engine parts.

Not much for videos on youboob. Here's one guy. He needs slightly smaller tires on the back but it'd do straight up hp wheelies. I see snow to. Warmer weather it'd hook up better.

last i knew jc whitney had TONS of vw engine parts for CHEAP ! may wanna have a look .

It's a cool store for lots of stuff. Prices are always nice. Definately worth checking out. I stop at the warehouse every friday after work. They have what's called "the lot sale". Anything that returned, has a damaged box, or ding and dent parts is sold there for crazy cheap. Can't tell you how many jeep tire and wheel combo's I've bought for half price. Gotta get there early. By Saturday afternoon all the good stuff is usually gone.
