in my quest for a kart.

ive got a frame that has terrible steering and everythings messed up BADLY.

i also have a lt1036 that has no deck. so its pointless as a tractor....

it doesnt fit in my car. so the list of things i have planned are..

either strip it to the frame or lower it, so it fits in the car.
plant in my newer 13.5 briggs to replace the beaten 10hp tecumseh.
bolt on my 5 speed peerless tecumseh transaxle, to replace the 3 speed foote transaxle that is about 40 years old.

thoughts on any of this?

oh and this is it from today. damaged the rear a little. but its fine.

so the other thing im trying to do is lower it or remove as many body panels possible to get it to fit the car.

not sure if i should just use the frame....:ack2::worried2:

has anyone made a kart from a mower?

show us the axle mounts

my mower / first gokart has just got a big bit of recantal tube that has peices on the end the drops down about 150mm (6 inch0 so if i sliply cut and flip thiese drop down peices i can lower it 300mm

and the rear i can just lower the mounts

i would have to twist the axil 90* forward and change to shaft drive but that would be easy

here is the last pic you guys will ever see of it before the go-kart stage.

messed up the back panel (bent) from wheelies.. so i took them off and bent them back. oh whats that? some bolts terribly welded to the frame haha! sometime in its life, the back end was crushed. and heres how it was fixed.

took the engine out because the engine mounts were totally dead. after a TON of degreasing, heres what i got.

the massive engine... its a tank...

if i had all the parts for this briggs, i would use it. but the tecumseh runs, and i dont feel like spending $100 to get the briggs back together now...

had to remove the dash so that it will fit in the car to take it places other than my little yard. i will shorten the steering shaft and make a support arm.

the new "lowered" look, even though it still has the same ground clearance...

since the seat got messed up from the wheelies before... ill make a new one from a piece of wood...

stay tuned...

flip the spindles and everything? well then the tie rod will bump the engine pulley.

and it would make the front slope down.

i think i just have to lower the steering shaft at this point, and it will fit in the car.

i need to make a custom dash thats lower profile.

If you want to get rid of that "rake" just cut some steel out of the rear axle mounts so it mounts higher on the machine. done. lowered lawnmower lol.
