Okay so I have a Tecumseh 10 hp engine and its not starting.
When we pull the pull start it does not start. Its moving fuel because we can smell it in the filter. Its pushing out exhaust and its making noise like it wants to start. We replaced the battery with a brand new one with plenty of volts. Brand new spark plug. Still won't start. Any ideas???

Welcome WiredOrange.

How old is the gasoline and how old is the tank...as in sitting a long time? You might also try to pull the spark plug and see if it's wet. If it is, clean it up and try not to flood it next attempt. If you can ground the base of the spark plug, have someone pull the rope while you check to see what (if any) spark you have. Or, got a little bit of starting fluid sitting around?

Its brand new gasoline, the tank is as old as the cart is, and the spark plug did spark, small spark.

Ummm..sounds like a gummed up carb...shoot some carb cleaner in the carb throat( I don't care if you have to go buy a can...or you can Jack around all day. If it runs.(for a little while) it's 99% probably your carb.

If you have spark, I'd hit it with some starting fluid and see if it'll fire. The Tecumseh on my tiller seems to always need a shot of starting fluid if it sits for a while and doesn't get used.

Slightly rusted flywheel magnets/bad coil gap? (Thus your weak spark) It should be fat and blue.

Also, is it real easy to pull starter cord? (Poor compression)>>>bad valves or bad head gasket?
