Howdy all! Looks like a great community here. I'm a relatively mechanically inclined 50 year-old with no go-kart experience, suddenly finding myself with 2 go-karts sitting in my garage. How did this happen (I ask myself daily)?

My 13 year old boy told my dad it would be cool to have a go-kart project to work on while he visits this summer. So my dad shows up with a project kart to work on and it proved to be a very rewarding experience for all 3 of us to do some garage bonding.

In the process of taking the project kart to a local welder we discovered he had an older racing kart that was too good of a deal to pass up

My objectives for joining this forum are two-fold (for now):
1) Get some practical advice on specific issues/areas of work that needs to be done to get the racing kart in shape.
2) Improve my general knowledge of karting and mechanics in hopes to continue building a platform of common interest with my boy and my dad.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

welcome aboard!

We hope we can provide you with every missing piece of info you need,
and I hope you'll have as much time with your son and dad in your garage,
bonding, tinkering and having fun as possible.

Thanks all - I appreciate the welcoming spirit. And as I look at your 3 replies all from 3 different countries, I'm struck by the global appeal of go-karting I never realized!
