Hi Everybody...

I'm definitely a newb with go karts. I'm a decent mechanic and keep all my small engines running well but I've never assembled one before.

I'm looking to build either a cooler racer or a TS racer with a kit from socal mini choppers. I don't have access to a welder nor would I know how to use it so I have to use kits and rely on bolt-on stuff.

Has anyone built one of their kits?

Yeah, they're not cheap.... I'm kinda shoehorned into a kit because I don't have a welder and I'd rather bolt something together that I know works.

They want $899 for a roller but I'm gonna ask them if they can take off the wheels and tires hoping that gets it down to $650 or so. I figure I can get a used set for cheaper or at least get a set that isn't race caliber because I'm only gonna use it for swap meets, car shows and flea markets

The page I'm looking at has kits at many different stages of construction, starting at bare frame for $185 all the way up to the roller. I suggest you go for a stage 2 kit for $295 & build it up from there
Thanks, I'm probably going to do a stage 2 and then ask them if they could weld on the brake bracket. I think thats the only thing that's not welded on at that stage

Think twice about that; If they weld the brake bracket on then you have to use their brakes; there's lots more choices out there
