I have:
6.5 hp greyhound clone engine
18 in rear tires
60t axle sprocket
10t tav sprocket

The main goal of me trying to mod the engine is to be able to make the 40 mph mark. I am currently at 35 mph max with the governor. I have a kn filter coming in a few days. Will adding a kn filter, rejetting the carb, and removing the governor be enough to reach the 40 mph mark or more?

Also by taking off the governor, does anyone know at what max rpm the connecting rod can hold?

If anyone else has any cheap lil tricks to share, it would be much appreciated.

* The only mod I've made is creating a homemade exhaust as seen in the pics. :D

Thnx
-Josh

well a k&n and rejetting alone wont do much if the gases can't escape quick enough so pick up an exhaust too and i'd pick up an aluminum flywheel and unless you upgrade your valve springs you shouldn't have to worry too much about your rod as your valves should float around 4500rpm.

edit: i didn't even notice you already had an exhaust

They float at around 5500 rpm. although you can push a clone up to 4500 with out removing the gov.

and with the governor spring mod? thats the only way i see that working

You can't. You achieve RPM like that by doing it right. I know through first-hand experience exactly what can happen when you "cheat" the governor a little too far. I didn't do those long-winded write-ups for fun- I did them to spare others the same pain and even the potential for catastrophic engine damage.
