Go kart live axle build... help?

I bought a kart off of craigslist for cheap, but the guy was in the process of converting it to a live axle. He cut off the axle stubs. this is what I think I need:

or I could get this instead of a sprocket and a hub:

I'm going to be putting 18" turf tires on it, along with a 6.5 HF
What I want to know is if this will work, suggestions, and whatever. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Bmi Karts has a 1in axle for $15 in the clearance section.

I need a 3/4" step down.

But will these parts come together alright? I dont want to buy a bunch of parts and find out that I missed some key point....
