It looks like a Brister's Design & Mfg kart.

A Big Thunder model is my guess.
They are long out of business. Defunct.

Best to just call it a "fun kart" and go on your merry way.

I agree. If your looking for parts, kart parts are extremely generic most of the time, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Yet if you have any further questions we can easily help hopefully

Thanks for all the info. It was extremely helpful.

This go kart was not complete so I don't know where everything goes so as a second question. Does anyone know why there is a cable attached to the brake pedal as well as a rod.

This is a typically gokart/buggy setup for the brakes..
Honestly Im not too sure why it is this way, im asuming to have a poositive return for the brake rod and a way to adjust for slack...

More pics?

I don't think it's typical like McKutzy says. It's usually a rod or a cable, but not both.

WAIT a minute...Now for the throttle, some karts have a long steel rod that ends at a bracket with a compression spring, and from then on it's a short section of cable that connects to the engine.

Maybe your kart's previous owner was a real Bubba and screwed everything up? :D
Gas pedal is on the right, brake on the left.

You are correct about the throttle but the brake rod attaches to the brake drum and the cable attaches to brake pedal and then goes to rear of kart and not connected to anything. Will try and post more pics, thanks for all the help.

It may have had some kind of parking brake lever on it at one time hence the cable.

It could be or is a very different setup, esp if it's in stock condition. Definitely something I'm curious about and want to see.

It sure is different, like the design was meant to push and pull but maybe "Bubba" (the previous owner) did it.
I see a cable clamp on top of the brake band. Does it look like it was added later on?

Here's some photos from around the web of a very similar kart called a Brister's Thunder Kart (Thunder Kart is the name they use for all their karts). The last three are labeled as a 'Brister Thunder Cart Big Thunder' and was taken from someone giving a review of Go PowerSports...

That's the best I can do for an ID.

If anyone is interested, I found out what the extra cable on the brake pedal was for.It forces engine to idle on braking if someone was pushing the accellerator and brake at same time.

Patent# US5913378A
United StatesAccelerator pedal override apparatus for self-propelled motorized cart with aligned brake and accelerator pushrod type operator pedals

Thanks for all the post:wai:
