Go kart front tire wear

I have a T&D Klipper Kart (see post "Need kart info" for more) and, for some reason, the front tires wear Down at an unbelievable rate. When I switched to solid tires (as pneumatics pop after about 1/2 mile), they legitimately wore down 1/4" after 1/4" mile. This happens at a serious degree the left tire, and at a somewhat serious degree on the right tire. I have used up over $30 worth of tires in the past two weeks alone. I think that the problem is just a steering adjustment, but the only info I can find is how to adjust your steering on a $1000+ dollar race kart with $500+ tools. ANY info is extremely helpful, as I really, really need it.

Well you can start by posting up lots and lots if pics, especially the front end. Only way we're going to be able to tell if your steering is crap.

Based on the pics in this thread your front tyres & wheels are rubbish; please correct me if I'm wrong but, they're $5 HF wheels, yes?

Those are meant for light duty, like on a dolly; if you look at the sidewall, you will see "NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE", meaning, they're not designed for speeds above walking pace... & the rims are no better, flimsy metal & low quality bearings...

So, the first thing you need to do is replace the front wheels...

No, not HF wheels! Thise thibgs wear 1/4 at 1/4 mile when they're used hiw they're meant to be used on dollys!

When you have posted some pics of the front end we will be able to help. 3 pics that are important will be one from the top when the wheels are fully locked to the right, one pic when they are fully to the left and one pic with them pointing straight. Take the pics from above so we can see properly

Well fabroman and crazykart are right. I am in fact using harbor freight tires, as I wasn't too convinced that nicer ones would make any difference. There is one other thing I want to mention, but, this time, with pictures! From the driver's view, it turns very far to the left and not so far to the right. (Pics are attached) I also need some suggestions on some "highway sufficient" wheels for the front. (10" OD, 5/8" ID bearings)

Well that severe toeing out isn't helping matters any. You see how when the wheels are supposed to be straight, that they are actually both pointing out? Ya that's not good. They should either be straight, or just slightly pointing in (my personal preference ).

OR....out...but regardless....NASCAR could align those POS wheels.....and it ain't gonna help much...??

Maybe just slightly out, around 2°, but not anywhere near that much. Ya those pos wheels don't help any, but there is a steering and alignment issue here as well.

Carlisle wheels are pretty good. I'm guessing it's going to be mostly on road riding, maybe some grass and such, so maybe go sawtooth tread. Good rims can be had for a decent price at mist online go kart suppliers. Try mfg supply as they have flat rate $6 shipping no matter the size of the order.

Obviously, something is binding, either a spindle or the steering shaft; determining what comes down to an individual process of elimination...

There are many suppliers with many rims to suit your needs, it's simply a matter of looking; some suppliers used to have rim & tyre combos but, I can't seem to find any atm...

I think one of the tie rods is not adjusted properly. Different sections of the thread are showing and some are not. I'll mess with it. Thank you.
