Ok so i put this torque converter i got from ebay on. So it was all installed properly drove grewt for about 15 min,but that piece of **** converters bolt attatched to the crank shaft flew off like a bullet, and while going 35 mph the whole piece of junk flew apart. I gathered all the parts together and had and extra bolt to put it back on, but the freaking cheap old bolt the tc came with stripped the god **** crank shafts interior. Im gonna take a break from this karting stuff for like a couple months then hopefully come back a bit luckier

Yeah, I'd be all mad at the Gokart too!
Bash it to pieces with a big sledgehammer!
That'll teach it for you forcing the wrong sized bolt in the shaft!!!!

10 dollar tap with a matched bit from home Depot, and a new bolt, and you'll be good as new. No reason to get mad and quit. It's just the learning curve of DIYing anything mechanical.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened...

I will say, when your unfamiliar with these things and or mechanical stuff, really take your time in assembling them, as a small detail can sometimes end up in a catastrophic manner...

All joking aside, mckutzy is right. Stuff like this takes practice and finesse. You have to get used to the feel of things. Me for instance, I have been wrenching on stuff since I was a kid, and it has always come naturally to me. Everyone is different. Some people can't attach a garden hose without cross threading it. But if you want to learn, and reap the benefits of doing so, just take a deep breath when crap like this happens. Step away for a few minutes and come back with a fresh mindset.:cornut:

I dont really care about money i just care because it took me so long to figure everything out and put everything together without knowing anything at all i was so close then got screwed right at the end i watched the tutorial online did evrything as said but the bolt was just a piece of junk. Oh well i guess **** happens. just purchased a quad for 1500 everything runs great on it so i shouldnt have to worry about stuff like this again. If i do im not doing this **** myself again. Ill just stick to roofing

I'd at least try to drill and tap the crank for a bigger bolt.
Should be able to drill the pilot washer holding the DriveR Unit on too.

If your just going to quit, you might as well go to rehab. Rehab is for quitters.

Or sacrifice the quad, steal the engine and transmission, slap it on the kart, and totally redeem yourself. LOL

The bolt was like it has been confirmed... A different thread...
It happens... Re-tap a new thread... Good to go...
Go slow... Be patient...

Was nice knowing you. I enjoyed reading all about your endeavors and I got a kick out of this final thread which seemingly broke the proverbial camel's back.

That $1500 quad will never give you any trouble whatsoever... as long as you keep it parked and never use it. Better yet, put it up on cinder blocks so the tires will never get flat, or even look flat, forcing you to air them up.

You've given me all kinds of schadenfreude...:cornut:

Don't screw the next owner out by selling it to them knowing you are lying to them that's not cool
