go kart carb/engine question..

recently purchased a murray go kart. tecumeh power sport engine. bought a generic carb on ebay and air filter for it. will start easily. but will die when gas is pressed all the way or too fast. if i ease onto the gas, it will want to take off but most of the time sputters and dies. any idea what could be causing this? i know that before i bought an air filter, i couldnt even touch the gas cuz it would die. any help is appreciated.

My first guess is it's running lean, carb needs a bigger main jet...

What colour is the spark plug electrode?

i can check that in the morning. you may be right tho. i figured that a new filter would fix it. cuz before filter, i know it was taking in too much air for sure.

where could i get main jets for the carb?

No idea, sorry; someone closer to you may be able to answer that question...

Worst case, get yourself a set of precision drill bits & drill it out...
