I love it when that happens.
I was looking for a belt for my friends parents hoover vacuum the other day and couldn't find the exact one so I grabbed a belt for a zenith vacuum or something that looked like it would fit and it fit perfect. Not to be off topic but why would you design so many different vacuums with the same weak belt system? It makes it so people have to buy belts like cigarettes (and they do stock them like cigs; very purposefully). The drive axles on these things are just bare rod stock so if the belt gets caught just a little it can be burned through by the axle. They just don't make them like they used to.

Ok, how about you provide some people with details of what belt you bought so other in the same predicament can source the same.

I highly doubt it has the correct angle and width for the TC...
the correct length should be fairly easy to find but the specs... I don't think so.

As mckutzy said:
please provide more info!

Either we can confirm it's a matching belt and others have a chance to follow your example ;)
or we can answer your question with a "NO" :D

It's too bad that standard CVT (for automotive) "belts" couldn't be used for your typical kart/buggy/machine TC. Steel links would would probably eat the heck out of the sheaves though.
I wonder how they (the car world) deal with the the belt burn. I know they stretch eventually.

Ok here is the deal and the Napa belt was just to test I have the bet from the chart due to be delivered tomorreo..The specs from center to center is 8 3/8 the only option on chart is 8 3/16 or 8 5/8 so I went with the belt with the largest outside circumference which was 8 /58 this belt measured 34.830 the belt from Napa is a 33.7 I will get the part number and message back.this belt is7/8 inches thick it has all the inside grooves like the comet belt and this go kart has so much power it lifts the wheels off the ground if you just smash the gas..

Also go kart do not try to pull when idle it sits still and idles with no one on it and I will never move until you hit the gas

IIRC it's a series 40 TC..

at least online napa does not have a matching belt listed..
all belts listed on their webiste with the correct width have the wrong angle.

v-shape means nothing...

is that is that 25-28333 I read on your belt?

then it's the wrong width..
if it's 28-28333 it's indeed the correct width but still the wrong angle.

you would want a 28-30338
well.. 338 is an assumption to be honest it's the belt length.

explanation: the first two digits (28) is the top width in multiples of 1/32" 28 is 7/8;
the next two digits (30) are the belt angle, you need 30° for a series 40 TC.
the following digits (338) are the length in tenth of an inch 33.8" here

So a Napa belt with a number that does not start with 28-30 is not a good replacement.

Ok, how did you come up with that belt.on the comet chart my belt falls between 8/16 and 8 5/8 it says if your center to center with of the driver and the driven falls between the two you should get the belt with the largest oc(ie... outside circumfrance) that is how I came up with a 203786a the detentions are 34-27/32..is this not right.also I do not plan on the continuous use of this belt I just wanted to try it to see what it would do

About the length (circumference) I just guessed a length.. if your center to center distance is 8 5/8 then it's a 203786A indeed and you'd want a number ending in 348
since it outside circumference is 34.83"

but as I said the length was just an assumption;
important is the width and angle ;)

I thought the belt you have installed in the pictures reads 25-28333
and that's too narrow and has the wrong angle (and is obiously too short ;))

yes the correct belt will be here in the morning,however i have another problem...i just noticed that my driven pully is not completely straight, it is not off by much but it is not perfect.problem is,i have to now take engine back off unbolt jackshaft plate and re drill new holes to fix the issue.there is not much space for new holes so i have to make the current holes bigger to compensate where the few inches off the old hole is.i could drive it a few weeks and keep a eye on the belt to see what it lookes like.what do you think.. i can send pics but it will be hard to tell on a picture
