Personally, I think that while novel, it adds a ton of weight unnecessarily. Narrowing it would have been quite a bit of work. With the housing open like that, I can't see how he's keeping the internals lubed, unless he's running the clutches dry. Dunno.
Cute? Sure. Worth it? Nah.
