well first off i wanna thank everyone who has helped me get this far on my go cart. i got the engine bolted on, torque converter bolted but now i have a problem. i crank it up the engine sounds good although it idles high but then i press the gas the throttle moves because the engine revs up but the go cart does not go. the torque converter was working good before but it has been sitting for a while in the weather. isn't it supposed to tighten belt and pull the go cart. any advice will be appreciated thanks

Yes, sounds like yours might just need to be disassembled for a good cleaning, inspection and using a wire wheel to brush away any rust you might find.

re:torque converter problem

ive looked inside and found tons of rust and mildew ive sprayed liquid wrench inside and loosened it up to where i can spin the whole thing around. how hard is it to disassemble and will i need any special types of tools to do it? i just talked to local shops around town and they charge from 30-65 dollars/hr. to tear it down and clean it. seems like bull**** to me. thanks for reply

Hah ummm, yeah that definitely needs a good cleaning.... Let me guess, you've never done routine maintenance on that?

You might get lucky and a stiff wire brush will take off most of the rust... Or bust out a grinder.

Hopefully it is only surface rust and hasn't had time to eat through anything.

re:

hello got it to work now. i took it apart again and after studying some diagrams i realized that the part that make clutch spread apart was completley locked up with rust. after taking it apart and cleaning thoroughly, i put it on go cart and now it works great. thanks to everyone who helped
