Briggs too. Tore down 2 '97's and there they were. Not a problem. Engines failed for other reasons.

A few of those GX200 clones also have plastic cams. I've heard that Harbor Freight doesn't use them though. *whew*

If you tweak it too high, your flywheel will go boom. I'm suprised no one cares about this. If you find a plastic cam in there, I'd hate to find out about the flywheel. I wouldn't spin her over 5,000... even there is stretching it. The tecumseh dippers are tiny...

Most of the newer crap flywheels are plastic bladed with a cast iron core. if you worried about blowing a flywheel just put a piece of 1/4" plate on both sides of the engine so any explosion will go up or down. EDIT:we are trying to push the limit till we step over the line.
