Ok I was wanting to build a two seated cart that is designed as an all terain kinda thing. I figure it should hold around 400 to 500 lbs (I'm 6'4 and 250lbs, so I need a big cart). Since I'm new to all of this I have a bunch of questions. First of all what size engine should I get? I was thinking about getting a two stroke snowmobile engine. Also what would be an optimal gear ratio for a cart this size? Finally around how big of a frame should I weld together? (For two people who are around 6' 4"). I'm still in the designing phase, but I'm curious what suggestions and/or tips you experienced people might have.

I think the best way to decide on frame size is to sit on the floor and draw an outline around yourself, including your feet, for pedal location. Once you choose an engine, you'll just need enough room behind the seat for it. I'll let some other wise guy tell you how big of an engine to get.

Seriously guys HELP. I guess what I'm doing here is adding to your post, but how do I actually create a post of my own, so when people click 'new posts', they'll see mine. I need to ask some questions about DIY Go Karting.

Noticed the 'FAQ' link at the top of the page? That stands for Frequently Asked Questions. Click on that link and you can find out how to use any feature on the site.:horse:

go to the front page of the forum, choose the category of your topic, then right under the menu bar it will say 'new thread.' click it and you should be able to figure out the rest
