Getting ready to do rings and maybe rod

I'm thinking since I'll be changing out the rings I may change the rod to an ARC billet. Is there anything else I should change while I'm in there ? Are there any other parts I need to change th rod ?

The engine is a briggs 5hp cool bore.

where u gettin the rod from? u might wana change valve springs to 18 lb.

I haven't purchased the rod yet. Why would I need to change springs ? I just did the springs a week ago (stock).

stronger valve springs so you dont get valve float. Might also want a billet flywheel.

naaa carb aint dumpin enough valves aint opening enough to get it really to get where u need a new flywheel

If we're talking about a Briggs Flatty, valve float won't do much but knock the carbon off your head. Several racing cams actually rely on valve float for better flow.
