Put a new Predator 212cc on the cart with a 10tooth clutch and 60 tooth sprocket , it runs about 3mph with throttle stop screw removed .
What would be a good ratio for more topend speed ?

Thanks

Believe they are 3-4.50 on 6"rims . S
The cart is pretty light in my opinion .

Will double check the size when I get home

Seriously... 3 MPH? Is this a typo? Because if it only does 3 MPH, you've got bigger problems!

:iagree: 30mph is a decent top speed. The problem is, hunting for more top speed via gearing will sacrifice acceleration &, most likely, a clutch or two...

Have you removed the governor?

Governor removal will probably be the only way to gain more speed with your setup at the moment. You could maybe try a 54 tooth sprocket, but you might then be geared too high. You could give it a try though

It is best if you start your own thread with the following info. Tooth count of clutch and axle, tyre diameter, riding conditions, as well as weight of kart and rider. We can then help you from there. If you have a pic of the kart....even better.

Try not to jack someone elses thread

Ok thanks, not worried about loosing some lowend .
We live out in middle of no where and have tons of open space to ride so more worried about top speed .

Was thinking about a 12 count clutch since it needs replaced anyways and a 54 count sprocket since the 60 is way too close to the ground .

Been out of karts since around the 80's when I raced them

If my (reverse engineered) calculations are correct, the 54/12 combo (which will give you a drive ratio of 4.5:1) should net you an extra 10mph (give or take). However, with that ratio, you run a high risk of burning out the clutch.

I suggest you try one at a time until you get the desired effect; maybe replace the axle sprocket with a 54 first, that'll kill two birds with one stone...

Removing the throttle stop screw does nothing, the governor will still kick in at 3600rpm. If you want to leave the governor intact, at least adjust it right out...

How can you adjust the governor ?
Goin to order sprocket and clutch in a day or so, so will order a 54 sprocket and a 10 clutch I guess . Any good places to order ?
Thanks for the help

Wait a minute... Are we talking about the governor adjusting screw on the engine right behind the throttle lever? Removing that certainly WILL make a difference! If it's another screw, just ignore me...
