I know you guys probably heard this a million times but here is 1,000,001. Thought I was all set with what I had but turns out that my axle sprocket is on 1/2" off the ground which means my chain may drag. I have a modified Predator 6.5, 3/4" bore 10 tooth clutch and my rear sprocket is a 60 tooth all for # 40/41 chain. My tires are 10" outside diameter. I did the calculator thingy and put in a 54 tooth sprocket which is a smaller diameter so my chain don't drag but it only came up with a speed of 28 mph. Any ideas on what I should use? Is maybe a #35 chain setup gonna work better?

A 6:1 ratio is what we use as a safe guideline; once variables like tyre size enter the equation, we can start to play around with that "safe guideline".

Case in point, my kart is running a Honda GX160, 5.5hp stock, & uses 5:1 gearing on 10" tyres; what I'm saying is you can safely go down to a 50t axle sprocket without the fear of destroying your clutch
