Gearing issue

So I swapped my manco dingo to a predator 224 and the gearing is way off. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on gearing for this.

If it's in Dingo configuration, a torque converter is called for. What changed? I thought you were good to go.

You need a decent gear ratio either way. What ya got now (tooth count & rear wheel height)?

I have the original comet torque converter installed. I thought I was good to go too but life has been happening and I haven’t been able to do what I wanted to. Anyway, I have a 54 tooth rear sprocket and I think it’s a 9 tooth front sprocket. I have read online that 62 tooth is a good upgrade but I wanted to make sure before biting the bullet. Rear tires are 18 inches.

I think he just wants some more speed or acceleration. Or maybe his CVT is acting up? Will wait for more info. (y)

With the Predator 224, a smaller clutch sprocket and slightly larger axle sprocket usually balances acceleration and speed. Check chain slack and clearance, then fine-tune from there.

9-54 is a 6:1 gear ratio. And with 18 inch tires you should be good.

What's the issue you having?
Has the kart sat? Maybe the CVT need maintenance.
I mean the cart has sat a little but not enough to be devastating I would think. Basically I got it all put together and got on to ride it and it barely wants to move. If it’s on jacks it will spin the tires just fine. But I got on to ride it and it didn’t want to go and just after a quick drive around the house the chain area was smoking and extremely hot. I have read the chain could be to tight but I thought it was gearing.

I don’t have a clutch. Check the chain slack for what? Then fine tune what? Wasn’t
very helpful.

When you have the rear wheels blocked up, and the wheels spinning, does both parts of the cvt move smoothly?

If not then it will need servicing. Its easy.

Yeah they do move smoothly but what does servicing entail because I’m very open to servicing it anyway.

Basically take them off the kart and disassemble them. Put a dry lube on the moving parts. Do not lube the belt surface.

There lots of videos out there on how to do it. Just as always gotta weed through the drivvle.

Can you take a short video and post it to YT and then link it here so we can see?
We can spot things that might get overlooked.

Do you want just the torque converter in video or the whole rear of go cart?
