Gearbox brainstorm

I have some extra outboard motors around, has anyone tried to use the gearbox in their go kart? Is it to much instant torque on ground instead of giving like the water? Input shaft is smaller than that of atv. Just curious. They are absolutely everywhere where I live in all different hp sizes. It is a super cheap or free 90 degree gearbox here.

Sounds like a lot of fab work, but if ya have a machine shop, go for it.
Go big. The shock loading of a prop in water is nothing compared to a solid connection to terra firma.

That's very true, different animals. Save that for a low speed vertical engine project I been thinking about
