I was wondering what my gear ratio should be with a comet 40. Yesterday I got a yerf 3002 for only $200, with a gx390 clone on it. The kart is in good condition, but the wheels are stuck on. However the clutch was burnt out, so i'm going to get a cvt. The axle sprocket is a 60 tooth. What should my jackshaft sprocket be?

Zoomy, you should tell us how many inches tall your back tires are, and also tell us what type of terrain you'll be riding on.

Like do you want to optimise the gearing for the highest possible top speeds for exclusively riding on hard/flat roads, or terrain similar to the Bonneville Salt Flats?

Or will you be doing mostly all lower speed riding in a small area like a backyard, or rock-crawling up super steep mountains where you'd want to optimise torque & acceleration?

Or ???

Telling us the weight of the drivers (and passengers?) would be good Info to include too. Because you'd probably wanna gear your kart differently for single 100lb. driver, compared to if a pair of 300lb. folks would always be riding in the kart...

My bad, I thought I put it in there. I have 20 inch rear tires and I am most often going to be riding on forest trails behind my house.
