what weight will you move (kart PLUS passengers) and what wheels will you have mounted?
(Wheel diameter of the driven axle)?

... also, what is the top speed you are wanting to be able to have(remember is a go kart), and whats the normal terrain that you'll be wanting to traverse w/ it? Evidently the more treacherous the terrain, the better to have alot more torque, which eats away at the 'topspeed'... but who wants to hit a bump at 40mph?...

If you're sure it's 19hp... 4.6:1 might work

barely enough to get you slightly beyond 40mph...
but a lower ratio would cause too much troubles, no matter how big the engine (it's about engagement speed then ;))
