Gas Powered Princess Power Wheels

Thanks to bigair49 and many others... I now building a gas powered power wheels that's been sitting in the back of my yard broken, so what better way to come back to live with it being gas powered go kart. I started to do it today with the tear down and measurements.

Wow, what a score, the steering is metal and actually strong for the build. Not only that the rear axle shaft is strong as well.

Nope going all out building a metal frame, rubber tires and full suspension. Only thing that's power wheels is the body,lol. Went today to harbor freight today and picked up this bad boy right here:



End up getting this engine because it was hard to find a 3hp used and I wanted to use a scooter engine because they were quiet enough but I call around for those type of engines which was insane in prices. So this was the solution, read the reviews and for $100 bucks on sale why not? Hopefully this engine last long which I think it should.

I searched gas powered power wheels on Youtube and came up with a few. Pretty cool! I'm keeping an eye on your build!

Thanks guys, I did the same and thought it was a cool idea so I'm building one from scratch. Also bigair49 impressed me with his jeep to want to do this. The day other I thought about this, when people see it they will automatically think it's a power wheels and not think much of it. It's a sleeper go kart,lol.

I once had a '73 Maverick. Cut the shock towers back and dropped a 390 in it. Also changed the rear end but kept everything as stock as possible. It flew! I won a lot of races in that sleeper. Mostly from kid hot-shots in Camaro's & Mustangs that daddy bought for them. Good times. I can see your daughter collecting big winnings now...

Yeah not looking to race it out just something the kids can have fun and not charge them dam batteries to only get 20 mins of play. This will be much quicker, no batteries to worry about, lol.

After this all set and done, daddy is going to build a faster one for me, hehe

Debating if I am or not. I guess it all depends on how well the engine will sit and etc.. Also thinking maybe I don't need suspension due to the fact it's not like a off road vehicle. If it were a jeep or truck body, it would be rude not to add suspension. Its going to be geared down anyways, so it's not like it's setting any land speed records, lol. Plus my first ever build kart, if suspension is needed ill add later.

It depends more on the driver; having built a kart for my little princess (who else would be driving this thing?), I strongly suggest a dead axle or, at the very least, a free wheel on a live axle setup; otherwise, I see major dramas setting up the steering...

Yes there will be one wheel that will be free wheeling so the kart can make much better turns. That's all I need is for my daughter to start toyko drifting around my yard,lol.

Basically on top, be more like seating like a car rather lying down like a common go kart. It will have a sheet metal on top with a hinge like a ride on lawn mower to fix or put gas in the go kart.
