Old bed frames are often full of springs.

Didn't think about that.. Don't have one laying around. Was trying to think of something I could borrow a spring from. Don't think I have anything... I got a very old push mower lol. But that's about it lol

I might be wrong, but the last time I was at my local Hardware store I'm pretty sure they had a very good selection of springs. Push and pull. $1.49 to about $2.98. Figure out what you need and go buy it. Don't think its gonna break the bank.

Put a spring there, right opposite of the attachment point. The spring has to be pretty strong to ensure it works and can overcome any friction in the setup plus the weight of that heavy pedal. You might have to shop automotive "throttle return springs"...

So putting a spring there.. Do you know of a safe spot to attach the spring on the left side? If you need another picture I can do that. Not sure if this one is good. Or any others I've posted

I do not know of a place. You might need to fabricate a spring mount, which can be nothing more than a small strip of metal (in GREEN) drilled on both ends. One hole drilled to hook the spring to and another hole drilled to fasten the strip to the existing tab on the engine (that is already pre-drilled).



I drew the head of a philips screw to indicate where it could be fastened to the engine. Heck, you could even put an L bend on the right end so it sort of clips around that tab there and keeps it all aligned.

Otherwise I am trying to find out how the factory hooked up the throttle on these engines. There's a lot of go karts and minibikes that had this type of Tecumseh OHV engine but they sort of pre-date the internet era that we are now in.

Oh okay. I have been trying to find the factory location of how it was hooked up as well.. I've had no luck. Even watched a ton of YouTube videos but not a single one shows it. Just my luck lol
