I scrapped the old 52cc engine on my off road skate board and just mounted a 148cc 3.5hp Briggs engine on.. Kinda looks scary now haha..

I still have a bit of work left on mounting the engine.. like installing a clutch and sprockets. also im debating weather to convert it to a solid rear axle..

Tell me what you think. This thing is was so fun to drive and had plenty of power but had trouble going up steep hills, but hopefully that problem is solved now that its on steroids

Ill add pics in like 20 min..

and..
here they are

Yeah it sure seems like its going to fly, it already did with a much smaller engine. I'm going to have to get someone to weld some more supports for my engine mount.. I don't want that over sized engine rattling my board apart..

as for the gear reduction I bought a 12 tooth clutch sprocket.. think this is a good size? Im not sure what my "spur" sprocket size is exactly, but I'm not sure how much larger sprocket will fit on there anyway..

If you live in the Houston area and know how to weld and have a welder, I will pay you for your help! i just need a few supports welded..

You really think it needs a 10t clutch? how much of a difference would it make?

Thats sucks cuz they just shipped my 12T clutch today!

yeah, you're probably not going to want to go over 20 with that thing seeing as you have nothing to hold on to.... :roflol:

exactly what im think
i wouldnt wanna go over 20mph on that thing and the less teeth on the clutch means more torque

****. I have one of those things, and it was scary as hell at WOT with the little engine, let alone a Briggs. Those little chinese engines these things come with always die within a month.

Yeah, it was pretty scary before with the wimpy Chinese engine (boo China.. go USA!), but this is America.. So, I figured I would slap a good ole 'Made in the USA' engine on there. Gotta support the troops I always say. I've Done quite a bit of work on it since those pictures were taken.. I started painting the board and parts of the engine patriotic colors.. good ole RED WHITE N BLUE! and I mounted two American flags.. Its pretty much the sweetest thing you will ever see.. I'm pretty much just waiting on the clutch to come in:toetap05:, it should be here tomorrow.. then just a few minor tweaks and its gunna ROAR!

im guessing WOT mean wide open throttle? cuz if it does thats my favorite acronym now..

I have several of these engines, they may not be powerhouses, but they last for years. Usually only problem is the cheap carb.

May well just be my area, because I know of at least five people in my area that had those engines quit on them.

I got it all running and it is crazy fast! I haven't even tried putting it more that 1/3 throttle and its very powerful.. Ive just tried it out on the street and haven't really been able to get it up to speed.. I'm gunna take it out to a good field tomorrow so i can really open the throttle up.

also i accidentally put chainsaw bar and chain oil in as oil.. oooops the bottles look the same.. i took it out and didnt have any oil and so i put some 5w30 car oil in haha so i could try it out for a bit... but im gunna get some 4 stroke oil tomorrow before i take it out. think this could have hurt the engine?

actually bar and chain oils is sae 30

ur suposed to run 30 standard but 10-w40 in the winter acording to all the snowblower manuals

if u get that thin goin too fast on pavement it might start whipin left an right. they usually have a fish tale efect at high speeds b cus the trucks start walkin left n right. ive had boards do that but urs could b different idk just a thought

thats exactly what happens.. its especially bad since its one wheel drive. I think putting a live locked axle will make it much more stable, plus it would get much better traction off-road.

here are some pictures from about a week ago.. ill put up more pictures once i put the new axle on. i also put a picture of what it looked like originally
