I've been arc welding for the past few years. Can I arc weld galvanized metal steel?? I have a project to weld the galvanized pipe to steel. But I am reading a lot about dangers of galvanized pipes these days. Once I took up the project, my friend told me about this and I am glad that I read those before doing the project. Are galvanized pipes really dangerous?? What could be the potential dangers and how could I avoid them??

Well, they emit hazardous fumes when welded apon....
MFF(metal fume fever) can produce sudden flue like behavior... causing you to be really sick...albet a few days or so.
This is with a real good dose and not much of ventilation...

Overall it can mitigated by grinding as much off the welded join area, have good ventilation or weld outdoors...In the end try to avoid the use of galv for material...

Everything I've read so far says it's ok to grind, weld, and burn galvanized all you want.

Just make sure to make prior arrangements with your florist, your priest, and a good carpenter.
