Well... This is where Im at. Plans to get these karts going for my boys. I may sell one to finance the other two after I get them all up and running, who knows? The parts on the ground came with the karts. Torque converter parts, unsure of how I would mount it to either of these yard carts, or should I just put it to the side for a cart with live axle? Also I have some larger wheels that would fit on the hubs? in the picture as well. Forgive me if there not called hubs. The drivetrain set up on the carts is a 10T clutch with 49 teeth sprocket on two of them and a 12T clutch with a 66 teeth sprocket on the 3rd one.

If it were me, I would just use a standard centrifugal clutch on all of those karts. Looks like they are all "one wheel peel" and would offer an easy build and be lots of fun for the rider! I would save the torque converter for the next kart, and there will be one. The gearing of 10T clutch with 49 teeth axle sprocket may not be the best. If your rider is a lightweight, it may be fine. Someone else will chime in with there opinion, I'm sure. It doesn't look like you need much work on any of them, so get going! The boys could be driving tomorrow!

What set up do you suggest for someone that is heavier. Sprocket and clutch combinations? I have a 6- teeth sprocket. What about 72 and 80 teeth?

Never seen a 6tooth sprocket on a clutch. If you can fit a 72T sprocket on the axle without any clearance problems, use that with a 10T clutch. The torque converter would be good for a heavier rider, but I don't think you'll get one to work on the karts pictured. You pretty much need a live axle for that. Fix one up with nominal gearing and sell it. Use the money to get a live axle kart to fix up.

66 tooth. Sorry for the typo... I came across a 60 tooth sprocket for a #35 chain. The small tires sit the frame down pretty low so clearance is something I have to take under consideration. How can I get speed with a #40 chain?

If you want speed and are going to use a clutch, you'll probably be disappointed at the time it takes to get to that speed. Then there's the clutch burning up because it can't handle the gearing you need for speed. Stick with a 10T and a 60T (or 66T). Then if you want more speed, we can talk engine mods to get the rpm's from 3600 to about 5000. That will get you some more speed. Walk before you run!
