i am thinking i can get a 100 to 150cc lifan motor and put it in a chopper push bike

i think because the chopper push bike is so wide i might be able to get a dirt bike tyre in there

him how hard do u think this will be

im after a bit of speed as this will be used to run to the shops and stuff but i dont want to die

its more of a toy

i spend $150 on diesel a wek to keep my land cruiser rolling

so if a set my buget at $300 (two weeks worth)
and use this to run to the shops i think ill end up ahead

also i have to consider this compared to a bolt on push bike kit
i dont really need to worry about the cops as they have better (or much worse) thing to worry about and i see 66c pushbikes everywhere

I say go for it! IDK how fast you want to go, but a 100 w/ a tranny should get your butt moving pretty good. I a have a 50cc pushbike engine on my mini-mini bike, IT goes up a pretty big hill (IIRC like 500ft long, 5* incline) AT IDLE! of course its top speed is only 13MPH, but still, 170LBS up a hill with the little 50cc two stroke just idling! LOL, single speed too.

make sure all the components on the bike are up to the challenge, and use lots of loctite.

one other thing, the 66cc two stroke kits, look up "shift kit" it allows the engine to use the bikes original rear derailleur system. look at this build, http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=20033

I'm sure fabbing up a mount for a 100 lifan, or a 66 2stroke w/ shifting system wouldn't be too tough for you.

the lifan is a 4 and the 66 is a 2 stroke

the 66 comes with a full muont kit incuding a srrocket that bolts to the spokes ???
and allows u to use the pedals as well

http://www.zbox.com.au/large_engine.htm

the lifan will be all custom but i think i can use half clamps and hydrolic hose clamps
because i work on CAT machines i have access to every imaginable size plus some for free

with means i dont have to weld

im after a mad max style
exept mad max would be an 850 engine in a pushbike useing 36in swampers:roflol:

I was looking at buying a kit vs building my own and I decided to build my own (with a HF 2.5... still in progress, money is tight) but this is the kit I found that I would have gotten if I had gone that direction... not sure how much it'll help you. They have ones with pull starts and/or cent. clutches as well.

http://www.gasbike.net/grubee_skyhawk_gt5_66cc_80cc_slant_head_standard_finish_bike_motor_kit.html

Two tips though... the sprocket included with that kit will probably save you a lot of time... I had to use a flat sprocket, drill bolt holes in it, widen the hole in the center, and use bonded washers to mount it on the spokes, and I'm not even sure if it's reliable yet.

Second, if you make your own and plan to be able to pedal start it (or run it at low revs) make sure you have a good way to tension the chain (and not just a spring tensioner, it has to be taut in both directions).

:toetap05: Any status reports?

its been like... one day haha. not really. im figuring out sprockets keeping the rear sprocket stock.

im thinking:

10 on engine
40 on first JS
10 on output jackshaft
25? on rear (i have to count it)

thats about a 9:1 or so i think.

10:1

40t/10t=4 25t/10t=2.5 2.5*4=10 or 10:1

fowler, i think you should go the route of the lifan.
