Hello
Does anyone know what the future of the Comet torque converters is? I understand that Comet is out of business. I am thinking of using a series 40 or 500 TC for the utility vehicle I am building and I am concerned about the availability of belts in the future. The series 40 seems more popular than the 500 so I am thinking belts might be easier to find.

I was told by gokartsupply.com on the phone that another company is bringing back the belts. So that should not be an issue. I would call and confirm with them though on the 500 series as I only asked them about my 40 series.

Hi Keith,
My name is Jay Grafft and I’m heading up the Hoffco/Comet division of Certified Parts Corporation. Thanks for the inquiry! We have been busy for the last year bringing the Comet product line back into production. Items that we have manufactured and/or are currently manufacturing include 4” clutches, pulley clutches, 20/30 series drivers and drivens, 40 series drivens, TAV kits, 94C Dusters, Salsbury clutches and disc brakes/calipers. Next on the horizon are snow clutches and building up stock for future orders. So far, we have been playing “catch up” and just building to suit customer orders, if we have the components available. I have been refraining from being too active on the blogs and doing any advertising until we have the full product line to offer; however, it is our intention to bring Comet back to life and we wouldn’t have bought into this brand if we didn’t think they made a great American product. I welcome any input you have and will look into your forum.

Best regards,
Jay
