Fueling issue.

Hi guys. Thanks for ur help on my last post about tc’s. Karts come a long way since then. I replaced the carb with a 32mm “mikuni-style” flat slide. Ran great but I noticed while going downhill after a few pops it would fuel starve.

so I adjusted the needle one lower to give more fuel and I’m having a weird fueling issue. I’ve attached a video link to illistrate. I think it’s too rich but on cold start it started and ran fine for 5 minutes at idle.

here’s also some recent pics. I’ve replaced the 10x6-6’s for 12x9-6’s and it doesn’t spin anymore. Gear ratio changed to 16 up top and 36 down low with 3:1 torque converter ratio off the line. I’ve also added a proper bucket seat and harness.

And yes I know my throttle cable is redneck but it works. For now.

I’ll likely just put the needle back up one and everything will be fine. But how else should I chase this fuel starving issue?

I can’t help but remark on how awesome that kart looks, I’m getting wingless sprint car vibes. Very cool. This pleases me, continue.

I was wondering what happened to you.

Looks great!!! Awesome tires!!!!

I figured you would be changing that gear, 😆 🤣 😂 😹.

That big block makes a ton of torq, and matched with a t/c,.... get outta here.. ...I knew you wasn't gonna need MORE gear.

Good job, 👍!!!!!!

Here’s an updated video after I changed the needle position back to 2 notches instead of 3. I’ll try to get a video of the fuel starving.

Have you tried adjusting the air screw? I found that made a big difference. Don’t want to sound too simplistic, but it wasn’t obvious to me…
I’m ngl, idk what it is either. I know idle screw, air/fuel mixture screw. Then there’s a screw on the top of the intake area that is either fuel or vacuum. Not sure about that one

I think we’re talking about the same thing. Air screw, A/F screw. I found some good tuning tips on line. Look up tuning Keihin carbs. Saved me a bunch of frustration.

Yes the carb is tuned fine. It just sputters sometime going down hill after it’s popped out the exhaust a few times.
