I was just being sarcastic....following the jet fuel statement. Right now I just want to build a screamer. I have a go kart and I may put it in it to play, but don't know if I want a doodlebug minibike or trike. Whatever I put it in I will gear it to be fast.

Anyway, here is a chart to show a general Compression Ratio vs Octane requirement relationship.

No, no no no. He should pick a performance goal first. What he hopes to achieve in performance terms. Barring that, this is a fun series of what-ifs.

His statement about preferring JP5 or 6 proves the lack of forethought here. Those are like, diesel fuels man, Whitetrashrocker nailed it!

Heck lets go diesel anyway. We need to increase the compression ratio by 50%, says I.

This is a hilarious thread. You guys are trolling the forum, ain'tcha?

Really When someone says something sarcastic like rocket fuel I came back with Jp5 or Jp6. Im a HazMat technician and I know flash points and vapor density of flammable liquids, I was just giving someone a response to a stupid quote! Bottom line is Im looking for some ideas on a build. I want something to have fun with and will run really good. I don't care what FUEL i run. I know nothing about what Im looking for and looking for recommendations. Now if you want to talk small block chevy's I can build you anything you want. Just do not know what works and what doesn't with these little boo-gars.

So with a Hemi Predator, 11:1 or 12:1 might be a realistic goal.
Should have you spending $8+ per gallon for 100 or 110 Octane (at least by me 100 Octane was like $8/gallon).

There are plenty of good cam choices for around 11 or 12:1

I agree.

How am I going to drive?
Where am I going to drive?
What is the gear ratio?
What are the tire diameters?
What cam works with that?
What CR works with that cam?.....

And then on from there, like what carb?....

It sounds like the fun is in the build for you, but maybe instead of throwing a bunch of money at a rotaderp, if you just want a kart that hauls ***, you should look into something like a 150cc Lifan pitbike engine. They're a bit pricey, but you could build a real screamer with one.

150cc
12.5 hp
9000 rpm
Air cooled
4speed semi-automatic
Electric start
Integral charging system

You could build a 60+mph kart pretty easily.

No i just want to build the Predator. I bought 3 of them. Want to play around with one. I think this is what Im going to do.
port and polish head(done)
New carb (open to recommendations)
flywheel
get rid of governor
exhaust J pipe
filter
8 degree timing key
stainless valves(stock)
heavier springs( depending on cam)
Im thinking the black mamba cam but Im open to options.

Removing the gov and changing the valve springs, will cause violent con-rod(stock) dissection...

New springs new rod-old springs old rod...
The stock valve springs will float thereabouts after 5K, which will help retard speed and won't detonate you stock rod.
Better bet is a billet con-rod then flywheel..

Oh... Typically the billet flywheels have already built in or adjustable timing settings stock, won't need the new key with that.

Bob, thanks for the snickers! I needed that!

Sefrayser, We see new guys in here all the time wanting to know how to get 800 horse power out of a 212 cc engine. Now when we try to get them to slow down and think about things and how they are all related they blow our questions off and tell us we don't know what we're talking about, like you they are all experts. Everybody who had answered you was spot on in trying to figure out what you in reality needed to accomplish your goals on power. Instead you are just worried about what fuel to put in it which by the way is one of the last things to worry about but should be considered during the build. Hence the reason for my attitude. If you just build an engine without worrying about what it will go in you may not be happy with the engine. If this makes me a cranky old man I'm good with that. I would rather give good information and for you to have good results and so would the rest of the guys here.

Running race fuel isn't necessarily a better option there's a thread on here where a guy got 25hp and 10400 rpm from running regular gas I believe I might be wrong
