I have the Predator 6.5 Hemi and was wondering if anyone has found a good spot to pull a pulse for a walbro fuel pump. I seen other vids where people would drill a hole into the valve cover and not worry about getting oil into the fuel pump but the older Predators have the stamped steel valve covers where the newer Hemi's are cast aluminum. Don't think I want to drill into the cast aluminum unless others have done it successfully without any cracking but doesn't sound to logical to me. I am also going to be installing a breather filter kit coming off the valve cover (hopefully). There is a stock line coming off the side of the cover now but I am not to sure where it goes or what it does at the moment. Have to get a closer look when I get a chance.

:wai: Do you still have the gov'r in the engine? If not you can tap the gov'r hole. 1/8 NPT with a 3/16 or 1/4 hose barb. easiest method is to use the itsid suggestion.

I just got done with a Predator Hemi build and was researching the same question. I couldn't find anything on the subject so I took a chance and drilled through the valve cover, I drilled a 7/16 hole on the left side top of the cover and just forced threaded the pulse fitting, it worked out perfect.. I got a better pulse than my standard engines wiyh the steel valve covers.. I put some red loctite on the threads. I would post a picture if I could figure out how to upload one, lol. Good luck

To post a picture from your computer or smart phone you can go to the "Advanced" button and scroll down to where it says "Additional Options" underneath the text field. There you will find "Manage Attachments". Click that, then choose your file(s) that you would like upload. Once you've chosen all the files you'd like to upload, click the upload button. Once the upload has completed you can exit out of that window and press "Submit Reply" right above where it say's "Additional Options"

I will be using a carb adapter with angle air filter. Think that the eBay item that itsid showed will work with this installed there also?

Quick question? Why are you (everyone) running fuel pumps instead of leaving the fuel tanks on them? Is this for racing carts where tank is mounted some where totaly different and weight distribution?

Quick question? Why are you (everyone) running fuel pumps instead of leaving the fuel tanks on them? Is this for racing carts where tank is mounted some where totaly different and weight distribution?

It's for many different reasons. The engines look better with no tank. Clearance issues, like hitting the back of seat. Tank might be rusted. Might be on a race kart, where the tank is usually under the steering wheel support.
On my pink 2 seater, the tank hit the seat, so I used a plastic tec tank, bolted to the back of the seat, in the center.... Still gravity fed...
My black yellow jacket, I put the tank next to the engine, cuz it looks better. This one had to have a fuel pump. I also added an aluminum tank, to the back of the big racing bucket seat, with a hand valve. If you run out of gas, or the pump quits, you just turn the valve on and you have about 25 ounces of gravity fed gas to get back with. I could/have put AV fuel in that tank, to mix with reg 93 octane, as I ride/play. I have yet to discern whether or not I'm actually getting a performance increase, so I've been hush hush about that, till now....
The '32 I'm building for the contest will have a steel tank, mounted under my seat most likely, and feed the engine using a pump. It might be put in between rear bumper and body..... Still toying with the idea.....
You see, there are many reasons to remove the stock tank..... You must not have run into any of the scenarios where a tank relocation was needed...... Besides..... They look better with out the tank. Tell me it don't...... (well, the gx/clones do):2guns::cornut:

Thanks, thats what I was thinking but was just checking that I didn't miss something.

I have a 87 honda atv that had an electric fuel pump because the fuel tank is under the seat. When it went out and cheapest one i could find was $200 I converted it over to one of these vacume pumps as well and it is the best thing I have ever done. It runs 10 times better!

Ok, sorry for the derail, Carry on.:cheers2:

Your question was valid, in this thread. I'm sure there are others wanting one know the same thing, that's why I answered the way I did.
Yep, that electronic fuel pump was a built in "gotcha!" ......

I have a question since I will be needing a fuel pump. I asked in another thread too, but this one has more subscribers.

All this talk about tapping a pulse location - Why can't I just use the existing breather in the valve cover? ( is it because too much pressure? ) If that is the case why couldn't I still use the existing hole and add a tee?

existing breather in the valve cover is more of a oil breather. not enough vacuum suction there to do anything with. with a fuel pump u need to drill and top a hole in the engine block where there is enough vacuum suction. or you can get a electric fuel pump.

Besides all the chat on this thread about vaccum suction and pulse location. Is there a "how to" somewhere anyone can direct me to. I have tried to search before but the keywords are too popular or vague. I am so thankful this topic popped up today.

I have a briggs intek 190, The carb has a briggs logo on one side and #214731 stamped on the other I don't know what brand carb it is or of it matters as to which pump to buy. and like Jim said the stock tank location just looks terrible.

I am waiting on my engine to arrive this week and plan on removing the governor.

I might just tap that hole and use a hose barb. Like Zbuck said.
