NICe that sounds like a plan swim, Chopp regarding your question an impulse pump will work off of the positive crankcase pressure. doing a chain drive in the mqueen car will probably be your best idea. Running a guard inbetween his feet will take it simple and make the power transfer easier than playing with shafts

I though the exhaust idea was a bit risky. Chain will run down the middle, guarded of course. I m thinking ill get a real thin sheet metal for a firewall. The car had one kinda, was plastic and had a large hole in the center for the pedal. That and I will be running new pedals and linkage through it.

this might work ^_^

Hi,
Any update on this build?
Also, the idea of an offset steering shaft is very interesting. Is that something that is available commercially? How would one go about making it if not?
Thanks.

you could do a driveshaft setup quite easily like this

with the driveshaft being driven like this

RAGBs(right angle gearbox) arent that hard or expensive to get, tons of industrial electric engines have them, usually with some sort of reduction, 1:1 ratio ones are quite rare. they ure usually about 10:1 or 20:1 ratio, which is alot but probably dont want him to be going very fast so one of these might be a good idea.

i know youv'e allready said that your probably going to use a chain but i just thought i would share my ideas

btw, sorry for my crappy drawings, im not very good at ms paint :roflol:

YEP I like this plan here and its exactly what i was going to suggest.

You could have the drive shaft in a tube with the bearings at each end to eliminate the danger of him getting into a rotating shaft.

With this plan you could even have the clutch/chain/shaft start in front of the engine to move it further away from you child and the right angle gearbox would allow you to set the drivetrain going in the proper direction depending on which side you lay it to.

A guy could couple the driveshaft to the clutch using 2-wide roller chain instead of it being more like a jackshaft. Basically both sprockets would be butted up to eachother with roller chain coupling them together.
