Well I finally got some more pictures and a little work done.

Found out my nephew decided to run the kart through the woods last summer and I guess took it off a jump of some sort I'll post those pics as soon as I find them on this computer.

Changed tires, which helped some but in the process found a busted wheel bearing. So now to track down a local store that carries the right type that I need.

Also figured out in trying to align the tires before all of this I didn't realize I had to go toe in and made the wheels straight......

I hope this helps more than the first pictures.

Well those weren't buried too deep.

From what I remember the bolt holding the spindle to the shackle came out and just bent up the shackle and dinked up the tie rod.

Shackle was beat back into place looks just like the left one just without paint.

so where is the best place to get wheel bearings for front tires?

Do they have to be the snap ring type?

And finally what is the best way to remove part of the broken bearing that is still in the hub?

There is a thread here that lists all the gokart parts suppliers...I'd. start with MFG Supply....BMI....might be cheaper....but be sure to add price+shipping to compare.....

Perhaps someone knows of a sale somewhere...and will chime in...what size???? 5/8"×1 3/8"?

And.....just take a big screwdriver, rod, or piece of re-bar....a big hammer and punch that sucker out!

Just thought about it and was wondering the necessity of the sleeve (?) Between the front and rear bearings.

Umm, what?

Are you referring to the metal sleeve, inside the hub, between the inner & outer bearings of the same wheel? If so, it's absolutely crucial! Without it, you will destroy the new bearings in very short order...

The purpose of the sleeve is to space the bearings, so that, when you tighten the axle nut, you don't add side load on the bearings; as soon as side load is placed on a bearing, you start to damage it...

I was just curious was all. Thank you for the nice answer.:lolgoku:

I don't know if you were trying to be sarcastic or not.....but it was a nice answer....and one that will not only save you future headaches....but gave you a tiny bit of knowledge you didn't have before....:lolgoku:

Ummmmm.....see what I mean????

Both of our posts take on different meanings with the very last bit either added or omitted.....

sarcasm was the goal. the answer was great. it could have been written with a negative feel to it.

Not being able to hear how someone means something is my biggest issue with electronic communication of any kind.

Now I'm confused; if it was a good answer, why the need for sarcasm?

You're not alone, that's why we use emoticons; in this case, the emoticon conveyed sarcasm, as if you weren't happy with the response...

 I was thinking about this earlier today. I realized it was not what I was trying to say. I meant the opposite actually. Sorry about that. Not the type of "ah ha" moment I like having.
