Hey guys, yesterday a guy at work gave me an old Margay frame that he used to use for road racing with a 125cc 2 stroke engine, but he kept his engine, so I have this rolling chassis with lots of extra wheels, an axle, hydraulic rear brake, all of the steering stuff, and a tiny seat for a kid. My kid is only 6 months old, so it will be a long time before he's ready to get into the motorsports addiction, so in the meantime, what should I do with this thing? Any idea what this stuff is worth if I don't end up building anything with it?
The only engines I have laying around not being used are weedwhacker engines, and a known good spare Kawasaki KLR 650 engine that is waiting in the wings if I ever need it for my motorcycle.
I have definitely thought about making that work and having a 45-50 horsepower shifter kart. I'd need a radiator, and a carb, and the CDI box, and the regulator/rectifier for the klr, as well as most of a wiring harness.
Or I could just put a harbor freight Honda clone on it.
What do you guys think?
Full disclosure, pretty much all of my spare cash for the next few months will be eaten up by my rock crawler Toyota project, as well as my vintage VW drag racer project. But ideas are fun, and this thing may prove to be easier to get going than I'm thinking...
