So I get home from work and there's a note tucked into my door.....

"Hi I'm Julie. Jo Jo's mom. Will you please call me when you get home. (phone#) Thanks It regarding your go-cart.

I turn around and look to see if it's still there. ....it is.

I can't fit it through my gate.....so it's in the driveway. ...mainly obscured by a small enclosed trailer. .....but still partially visible from the road.

So I figure she must want to buy it......I call her and the web of treachery unfolds. .....she tells me this little turd told her that I said he could have the kart.....she was suspicious. ....until he came rolling it down the street. ...and then she became VERY suspicious. ....when the cops showed up. ...she became VERY VERY VERY SUSPICIOUS. ....

So......no I never told this Poboy prodigy he could have that kart. .....

But I have to admire his insanity and brassness just to think he could pull it off. .....Ahhhhh- the son I never had. ...chip off the ol' block......

Fortunately. ....he has a good mom.....and I have good neighbors who saw him taking it......Mom made him take it back. ...and just wanted to confirm what she suspected was true before dropping the hammer on him.....

But it really did bring back memories of my childhood. ....single mom with 4 boys.....In my case... (there were 3 of us and my sister)....and I have no idea how my mom kept her sanity with what I put her through.....

I knew I should have chained that thing up......

On the bright side. ....record low temp this morning. .....65°f........nice!!!!!!!

wow, what a story...
what a kid....
but what a great mom!

Maybe (just maybe) it's a nice idea to offer the boy (or boys) the opportunity to help them build a go kart... finding a cheap chassis shouldn't be too difficult for you I guess,
something they can work on and call their own.

Also that'd help said mom, which I think would be a nice thing to do.
just give it a thought ;)

...&/or offer them supervised use of your kart

Way ahead of you 'sid.....he needs a big brother. .....I definitely can't do anything for a while. .....that would be sending a mixed signal.....he needs punishment for this stunt.....and a clear message that this is unacceptable behavior. .....

His mom has already asked about me selling the kart and thinking this would be good motivation for him to learn that if you want something you have to work for it.......good intentions. ...but not going to happen. .....

You are closer to the solution. ....but this is a troubled kid.....he's not ready for any long term contracts......the solution is to start small.....get him to mow a yard or two. ....then take him to a gokart rental track for a little ride time.....establishing the connection between work and reward.....and throw in a few freebies....emphasising that good things happen to kids who do good things. .....

At the same time. .....before any of that happens. ...he has to believe that I will beat him within an inch of his life if he even thinks about getting out of line...... I wouldn't lay a hand on him. ...but he would HAVE to believe I was ready, willing, and able. ......

He's not a bad kid.....he just has problems. .....I don't know his whole story. ..but he has been sexually abused....is on heavy medication. ... (that isn't working. .....SO....LET'S JUST KEEP INCREASING THE DOSE!!!!!!!) WTF!!!

But kids are actually pretty resilient given a chance. ....My ex and I actually fostered a couple of kids short term. .....and one problem child spent 2 weeks with us...... (wasn't a problem child at all......delightful little girl) while her problem parents went on vacation..... (holiday.....for you weirdos. .:lolgoku:)...not one.....no make that ONE F'NG phone call. ...in those 2weeks.....you got to be kidding me!!!!!!!! I still don't know why we gave that kid back. ....I just hope she wound up OK....

So yeah. ...this kids in my radar....may not be able to fix him....but I'm going to try. ......

One Poboy is enough for this world......

You sound like you know what you're doing & have the experience to back it up; great plan

:iagree: Where there's a "problem" or "troubled" kid there's usually useless parents BUT, before you bite my head off in defence of this youngens mother, it's not always the custodial parents fault, in a lot of cases, it's the absent parent that causes the problem, simply by not being there...

Being a single parent is a tough gig, especially when there's multiple kids; trying to split your attention between three or four kids while still providing for them isn't easy, it's even harder when you have to do it on your own...

I have a great relationship with the little princess' mother so, they both know the back-up is there but, I'm still not there; as a result, I've lost count of the number of times I've had to discipling her over the phone; it doesn't help that, for whatever reason, she has very little respect for her mother...

Lol... sounds alil bit like what the kid down the street did w/ me... cept there was no note... no mom... and no cops.

I wokeup one night to the sound of 'hollow' metal being beat upon... I step out to investigate...sword drawn... There sits my dog at my sheds doors growling(I taught my dog well... let em in, but DO NOT let em out). The doors were closed and for good reason...lol. Inside was a neighbors kid whom had attempted to do something in my shed(probably tryin to steal one of my karts) w/out knowing bout my dog(my dog only barks when pissed... he growls to 'play'). I stuck my head in the door and shot a pic of him squatting up on the work bench in fear of my dog. I informed him that he had 1 of 3 choices...

1- I could drag his butt to his house and wakeup his parents...
2- I could call the police... after letting my dog at him while waiting for the police...
3- Leave him in there till morning and deal w/ him then...

He chose #3... so I went back to bed.

Next morning he was gone and I found afew articles of clothing laying in the back(a shoe mostly chewed up, a dog drool saturated sock, and a t-shirt... well it was a T-shirt)... lol. The boy had evidently escaped my dog... but left some of his stuff behind. So being the good neighbor I am... I took the stuff back to his house and gave them to the father. I informed the father that I had found his son in my shed the previous night and didnt want to wake them up... but wanted the boy to 'learn a lesson'. The father chuckled and smiled and said he'd deal w/ it... not sure what was said, between them, but the boy came and thanked me for not letting my dog after him, and for not calling the police. Since that day I aint seen the boy... lol... I think he hides, from guilt, when I drive down the road...lol.
