Got the motor plate done. With 3/8 bolts, there is enough play between the holes in the motor,
and the mount plate to allow a full 1in adjustment with no gaps.

Might reuse this heavy duty 30 series backplate I made for the jackshaft.

Test drive complete. mission success

the 9 to 1 gear ratio is perfect, has plenty of torque to go sideways and
push through snow, and uses all 9hp to get a bit over 30.
Not fast but still fun, an wayyy better than when it had the gy6!

Have fun with that thing.

Put on maxxis front tires that hold air! And light, supplied by Milwaukee m12 batteries. Plus a obligatory slow moving
vehicle sign.

Slow moving vehicle sign light up? Or is it reflective? Really shows up in the pics.
Its just got reflective strips in the red spots. I could stick some led strips on it.

The sign is really there incase the tail light fails more so than trying to make it road legal.

Hey Karl. I’m planning a build pretty much identical to yours besides the possibility of 12-14” golf cart wheels on low profile 20-22” tires front and back. This will be my first build but I’m more than capable of doing all things necessary. Anyway I’ve got a free lightly used GX270 and would like to add electric start (which means no billet flywheel) so I would need to keep the governor. Is there any way you could give me a breakdown of what you did for you driveline including tooth count for all gears? I would like to get this right the first time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cool, I used the gx270 cause that's what I had on the shelf, run whatcha brung, ammi rite?
Ill try my best adam.

40 series TC setup-
https://www.ombwarehouse.com/40-series-1-torque-converter-with-plate.html
The description says it comes with a reverse wound spring for the driven, but it's
not pictured. The clutch kit I ordered from ebay did not include it, so I had to
order one to install in the driven clutch.
Reverse spring-(if needed)
https://www.ombwarehouse.com/comet-40-series-reverse-wind-spring-204524a.html
Belt, the kits come with a Chinese belt that is poor quality, mine started slipping
after a few miles. Genuine comet is the way to go, their 40 series belts are made in Italy.
Worth every penny
Belt-
https://www.ombwarehouse.com/comet-40-series-torque-converter-belt-40-80-clone-.html

The clutch kit includes a 10 tooth 1/2in pitch sprocket for the torque converter shaft.

My kart's factory axle sprocket is 30 teeth, and 5/8 pitch.

So the jackshaft I made has a 30 tooth input sprocket , #40 , 1/2in pitch.
Then on the output it has a 10 tooth, #50, 5/8 pitch.

I sourced the sprockets from locally from tractor supply.
The gear ratios multiply with a jackshaft, so both 1 to 3 ratios = 1 to 9.
Example -
https://www.amazon.com/Jeremywell-5...664&sprefix=10t+3/4+sprocket+50,aps,83&sr=8-1
------------------------------------------------
https://www.ebay.com/itm/3839311530...rhY7dxJaSmLm6Rf4akRzqvrA4=|tkp:Bk9SR5SZ4tSjYQ

They ride on a standard 3/4 keyed shaft, 3/16 keyway. I ordered that from amazon.
Shaft-
https://www.amazon.com/AlveyTech-Ja...233497&sprefix=3/4+keyed+shaft,aps,116&sr=8-4

The shaft is supported by 3/4 pillow blocks, sourced from a local hardware store.
Example-
https://www.amazon.com/PGN-UCP204-1...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Then a short piece of #40 chain connects the clutch to jackshaft, and a # 50
chain connects jackshaft to axle

Hope this helps
