Got this thing on trade for a mower engine I got for free.

After some bucket seats, new tires, and some cleaning,
should it get twin gx160's with 30 series,
or a single gx270 with a 40 series?

Hey now I could v-twin swap it too!

Indiana might be a bit of a trip for the ol cub cadet, I think ill keep it

Looks much better after getting the seats out. Frame has some rust spots but nothing
structural, just needs some touchup or respray. And all 3 disk brakes are free and working!

I'd go for the 270. Double the engines, double the point of failure.
Yeah that's probably the way to go. My thought was if one motor fails, you still can
limp it home on the other motor. But the setup and maintenance will be more difficult.

twin 270s
I do have another 270 block/ engine , but the governor is already deleted.

So id have to tear down and remove the gov on the 1st 270 , then put stage 1 kits on both.

Well if thats the case I would do that if you're looking for some decent power. Still the same issue as 2 engines but you do have the option to "limp home" like you said.

Anyone want a free scooter engine?

Anyway after some eyeballing, twin big block hondas aren't gonna happen without a custom swingarm and axle.
Thats gonna get a bit over budget. But I ordered a 40 series setup, and hopefully will get a gx270 mounted up this weekend.

I think a three cylinder Kubota diesel would be the most fun!! Hint Hint!
I don't understand your subtle hints :cheers2:

Got the ebay sub 200$ clutch in. Already much better than the GPS kit, the jackshaft bearings have a larger 1 3/4" od x 3/4 id
vs 1 3/8 od x 3/4 id bearings. Backplate is beefy. Driven has a regular wound spring, so running the motor driver
backwards should make it work right, at least for a stock 9hp motor. Just need to order the parts for a jackshaft
between the TC and axle, and it should be good to go.

Add a small turbo on top of that and you'll have even more fun! Least then, you'll never complain of not having enough power lol...top end maybe, but torque for days!

Sorry but I think your a bit far away to pick it up, and it's gonna cost alot to ship. It's just not worth it.

Gonna save the diesel for a cub cadet pulling tractor, with turbo?

Had to trim the plate to clear the exhaust. Other than that fits good.

Even as pictured I think that you will need to install the reverse wound spring.
My 40series set up looks a lot like yours. Driver is reversed like yours but that was done more for pulley alignment. I run the reverse wound spring and it puts the cam on the other side of the stops. Works perfect. Mine came with the spring included in the kit and was very easy to install. Much easier than a
30 series. Never tried it with the stock spring but have read that they immediately go into high gear ( fully open ). Just my 2 cents worth.

I’d have to agree with Pancho. Pancho what kit did you use? Where did you get it and for how much? Also what did it come with?

I bought mine from O M B Warehouse. I paid $200 for the kit. Looks exactly like the one in Karl's picture. Same thick aluminum plate and I had to notch the same way to clear the header pipe for my Predator 301. The kit included drive and driven clutches, mounting plate, belt, 2 sprockets 10 & 12 tooth for 420
chain, jackshaft, and the reverse wound spring along with some bolts for mounting. It is very complete. I think the bolt that holds the driver to the crank shaft was the wrong size but other than that all there. Regularly sells for $220,
but every Thursday they 8 to 10 items on sale at 10 % off and that is how I got it for $200. Also free shipping. No regrets on this end.
