So I'm working over parts I need to get the kart up and running. Any idea where I can pick up a new/used brake? The ones on BMI are like $200 :worried2: anything cheaper out there?

What's wrong with your current setup?

Check ebay for some pit bike brakes. they are usually in the 70 dollar range.

For a small kart, I would agree but, not for a buggy. A used motorbike rear setup should do it...

My caliper is all rusted out and its completely seized up. Ended up cutting the axle out because it was bent ): also the spindles were rusted apart at the welds so not sure whether to buy or reweld... Just spent 5hours grinding, cleaning and stripping :D can't wait to start assembly

Throw up some pics of the aforementioned parts & we'll let you know what to do; you may be able to save them but we can't tell until we see them

Depending on how much time you wanna spend & how much money you want to save, that system is not beyond repair if you can get new seals. If you can't, there's no point so, do some research & we'll go from there...
