Hi guys.

I have got a forward and reverse switch to wire into my karts. Trouble is being a novice and the fact that the switch came in a clear packet and that's it, I have no idea of how to wire it in.

It needs to go in between the controller and motor right? I have put a picture of the switch below. It has five terminals in the left hand side as looking and four in the right. Can any one assist?

Please?

Ben

well... without the schematics of the switch we can't I'm afraid

but it's indeed relatively simple in theory.

two terminals on the switch will go to the "motor" terminals of your controller
plus and minus as usual.
then there will be two each that go to the motor (one plus and one minus going to either one of the two motor terminals)
switching then en/disables them pairwise so that the motor is either conencted straight (running forward) or crosswired (running in reverse)

Additional terminals are for multi contactor layouts (which make sense... do you have them?) or seperated field coils or ... or....

which one is which can only be said with a schematic diagram or by thoroughly testing the sequence of the switch.

if it's beefy enough for your task I can't tell either, those terminals you have there do not look to be able to push more than maybe 30-50 Amps continuously to be honest.
but I can't tell for sure.

Thanks sid.
No schematics I'm afraid. I guess it's trial and error this evening then.

are the terminals labeled in any way?

and if not, any chance you got a multimeter handy and can test them for continuity based on toggle state?

I should add it's billed as 36v 800w so fine in theory for my setup.

Nope. No labelling at all. The switch seems to have three "tiers" to it as seen.
My brother might have a meter. Trying to get hold of him now.
