Forklift motors...

I never made a kart. And dont know what motor ill go for. But i seen videos of people using a simple forklift motor and 36V of batterys, and they are able to get 97mph out of it. I seen others get 60mph.

I'm going around online for Forklift repair shops, and wondered if ANY forklift motor works, or should i try to get a certain amount of amps..So far im just mentioning 36V+ motors..

Soon I'll ask my teacher if he knows of anyone, or if he can give me one of his motors (he has a ton of large motors, some are AC sadly, 8.5" diameter, 15" wide motor shell o.o ) Any advice will be nice Just trying to get my first topping at least 30-40mph. I figured forklift motors sound easy to get...Seeing all the shops around.

Would a 24V Drive motor for Pallet lifter work?

I have watched that motor you listed, but the seller warns
"This motor shaft is not designed for radial loads."
This means the bearing is not designed to have a sprocket mounted on the shaft with tension from a chain. I also wonder about the duty cycle this motor is designed for. It's designed like a starter motor and starters are not continuous duty.

I went to a small scrap yard today & asked if he gets elecric fork lifts in I I'd like a controller from one so he asked for a name & # & said he'd call if something came in & I'm thinking I'll pay less than you if you go through a repair shop . might be worth asking you'r local scrapyard . the little ones will give you the tome to get what you need & pay by the pound

I asked my teacher, and searched. theres NO scrap yards at ALL in michigan. ALL electronics / motors / transformers get recycled. we do not have scrap yards at all, only for car bodys.

Anyways, I'm getting on from the shop. Any specifics i should be looking at in terms of amps...volts..type? I think forklifts have a drive and a lift motor dont they? Such as duty cycle....What percent do I want
