Hi everyone. I've been on here a couple of months reading and asking questions, but I never introduced myself. I've already learned a ton of stuff I had no clue about from this forum, so I think it's a bit rude of me to not at least introduce myself and tell you all thanks in advance!
Anyway, I live in OKC. I'm 36 years old and I have an 8 year old son. I am completely new to go karts and small engines, but I do have some metal fabrication experience. I worked for several years in a fab shop while going to college doing everything from operating brakes and sheers to welding.
I came from a dirt poor family so we never had go karts or motorcycles or any of that stuff as a kid. As a result, I never really got into engine mechanics and or motor sports type stuff. There weren't any around to learn on. Heck, there were a lot of times we didn't have electricity, much less a go kart to play around on!
I'm in a much better spot financially now as an adult and my son is getting to the age where he would really enjoy go karts. So I recently bought our first couple of go karts (A Trailmaster 110 xrx and a yerfdog 3203 that I'm trying to restore) and both my son and me are absolutely hooked! My only regret is that I didn't get into this stuff sooner.
I've got a lot to learn, but I'm a pretty quick study. This forum is an absolute goldmine of information for people like me and I am sincerely grateful.
Thank you all for the tips and advice.
