This is what the sound like if you do not mod the Ody driven clutch. This guys 500cc sled engine is not shifting into hi gear. I see this over and over.Hi rvs with little power.

Notice how mine shifts into higher gear. This guy above is not getting all the power out of his sled engine. You can also change weights to dial them in.

In this vid you can hear it shift right after he gasses it.

I see the difference. Got some good news, I started work today at my new squadron. One of the guys i work with has a sweet plasma cuter, mig welder, and is big into fabrication.:cheers2: he also has a pipe bender. I really like this buggy, gonna base my mods off this style of roll cage.

This is my project in waiting. Here is a vid of how she sits now. and some pics I got from the original builders and racer. This car was a to time national champion in class 2 Ody racing. Class two had no suspension but modified everything else.

Stan Cargo built this style of cage out of cali. This buggy in this magazine pics would of raced side by side with my yellow buggy. This is the open modified glass 3 ody racing. Mine has a 360cc camex racing engine.

Frames and cage are pretty much the same. Little different around the feet area. But same builder built this frames for ody racing back in the day. This one does not use the ody frame at all as you can see. The only thing ody is the wheel and driven clutch. You could do anything you wanted but you must use the original driven clutch, steering wheel and fl250 bottom end on the engine.

A company called Challenger built this class two cages for the class two racers (like my blue one) They sold these in kits or ready made.

I also have this style of cage. People really like this style. It uses the ody frame as well. I like this style for it makes the bumpers simple and protects your feet good. As far as bending goes it looks pretty simple. Not ideal for a fat guy like me though. My yellow one I can jump right in. This does not matter unless you are 300lb and 6'3 like myself.

Well got a weekend off, so decided to get some progress made on the oddy. working on getting the 400ex front hubs on and front brake calliper mounts. Gotta either take to a buddys house to use his welder and plasma cutter or get a early birthday present for myself.:idea2:

Called a machine shop here on the island today. Ordered the bearings i need to make these hubs work 25/37/7. Gotta take them in so the guy can give me an price and decide wether he can do the work... hopefully not to much. The outer part of the hub needs to be 2mm bigger to fith the bearings. couldn't find 35/25/7 bearings. allready in for 150$ for front brakes and wider stance. still have to get rims and tires to fit the hubs. I think it will all be worth it.

I got an idea to mount the front brake lever. going to fabricate a squeeze handle that goes below the throttle, I'll be able to run gas and brakes and steere with one hand lol, with the 540 im gonna try to power brake it on dry pavement at least once.

Gotta get the stock driven cluth machined to fit the sled belt, like bighead did on his, still gotta get my measurements. Not having a good welder and equipment is really slowing me down on making progress. loading the oddy into my truck to drive across the island to my buddys is really making me want to spend the tax check.

Was thinking about it, but i think having a handle will be better. Going to get a hypertherm powermax 30 this week, should speed up the progress.

Just a thought. Could you mod the brake cable holder to hold two cables. Then run two cables. One to the rear brakes. and another cable with bell crank to the lever for the front brakes. This would let you mount the master on the frame.

I was thinking get another cable holder and rod thats inside wheel and weld the rod to the original rod. Then drill and tap another hole for cable adjuster just like the original has but right next to it. This gives you two cables coming out. Not sure if you have the room in there though.

Also the fl350 pilots have larger wheels and with larger levers.

Edit: you may have room. Also lots of mods on this site how people hooked up the master with a bell crank.

I have some of those splined rods inside the wheel, Perhaps you can cut one off at the plines and weld it onto the other rod extending it out. Then just drill and tap a hole into the wheel for the cable adjust. Or just cut the old threaded cable adjust out of a old wheel I have. And weld it onto the wheel right next to the original. This would give you the two cables you need coming out of the wheel. Nice and clean as well. Also it would let you work front and rear brakes with the single original Ody lever.

I can send you the parts you need with another wheel in a USPS flat rate box for fast cheap shipping to HI.

not a bad idea, gonna see about mounting location for the master cylinder and go that route. should'nt be to hard to build a bracket to mount a cable going to the handle or bell crank like you said, going to look up what others have done to get a better idea. would be a clean modification if done correctly. also need to see how the rear gearbox mounts to the frame, when i get the plasma im going to start cutting and building the rear end up allong with the engine mount. Hopefully the machine shop i talked to will be able to do the work i need done to the clutch and hubs.

might be easier to just mount the master cylinder on the steering wheel and fab a handle. Also not looking out of place or rigged.

Got the driven clutch apart and ready to go to the machine shop. gettiing 6mm taking out to compentate for the bigger belt. Trying to figure out how the gearbox mounts, whoever had it befor did away with the brackets. Im going to re build the rear end, but im going to use the sections where the axle carriers mount on it.

Going to widen the roll cage and re design the rear portion after the engine is mounted. going to do something similar to this.
