I have an old Briggs & Stratton 90100 Series Engine from an edger that I used to use. A few years ago, I had to buy a new edger because the one I was using started breaking down. I lost one of the two screws holding the fuel tank in place, the throttle lever cracked one day, and I had to force the engine to choke while running because a crack formed in the fuel intake so it would suck in more air than it needed to. Unfiltered air. I abandoned it altogether when I accidentally broke the assembly that controlled the gas/air mixture intake into the engine.
I think that's called a throttle, but I'm not completely sure. However, I have recently taken an interest in building a go-kart, and so I was wondering how much work it would be to fix it all up and if it would be worth the effort. Since I abandoned it, I've completely lost the gas tank (I have no idea where it is in my cluttered garage) and the fuel intake has completely broken off. There's also a chance it just won't run anymore even after I fix it since it's been out of use for so long. Since it's from an edger, it is a horizontal shaft, 24 lb (give or take a few pounds), 3 HP engine, as opposed to a vertical shaft lawn mower engine. It has a pulley built into the shaft that makes it convenient to just hook up a belt to and go. If I'm going to fix it, I would need a new gas tank, probably a new air filter considering the one in there now is disintegrating, I would need to repair the throttle (I'm not sure how to go about that part yet), and I would need to get a new part for the fuel intake and figure out how to put it in. Does anyone think it would be worth the effort to even try? Also, I'll attach some pics if they're needed.
It's just that it's 12:00 at night where I am right now, and I'd rather not trip over a bunch of stuff in my garage to get to it. But just say the word and I'll have some next time I post. Warning: I am a noob so I ask that you experienced guys have a little patience around me. Just sayin'. Thanks for anyone who read this!
