My buddy managed to find me a tecumseh transaxle either an 8xx or 9xx series.

I'm gonna clean it out tomorrow to figure out exactly what it is. But it has at least a 1" axle, and 3/4"+ input shaft. 4 bolt hubs attached

Where exactly are the shifters on these things? I found a small threaded extension sticking out which might be it. I also found a thing that was U-shaped with 2 side bolt holse that was bolted on top...so idk

He said he thinks its a 4 speed w/reverse and a sequential shifter.

It does have some problems with it though,
the goods: gears seem to spin good and axle moves. very beefy. attached hubs.
the bad: there is a quarter-sized hole in the case and the case arms that hold the axle in are snapped a bit (looks like they could be welded or replaced with a different axle. Pulley is bent up but not a big deal.

looks like the case is made out of aluminum (kinda dumb) which sux because he doesnt have an aluminum welding setup.

I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow. it definately needs some work tho lol

well i couldn't find any good model number tag, but i did find something stamped into the case that said 7151-p1 but this is definately not a 7 series.

It looks like this thing has a switch or solenoid or something for the reverse safety because its a thing near what i think is the shifter that has 2 contact points on it.

there are also some stampings in that area that say REV, 2nd, and 3RD, i didnt see a first or fourth

This is also a differntial, not locked as the 2 sides spin opposite of each other.

any ideas what model this is? ill try to get a pic up ones it dries off.

sorry, here they are:

I don't know what that splined input/output shaft is. its rather small <3/4". also, that square headed thing that i think is the shifter had the u-shard shifter holder (i guess) thing on it but i took it off. i cant seem to get the cases to split either.

ill find a way to make it work lol. i really just need a new longer axle with caps to hold it in and a partch for that hold.

how does the shifter work? does that square turn/tilt/move?

It SHOULD turn different ways.

Is it on a balljoint type of thing or does the square rotate(twist)?

also is there anything other than the case bolts that would keep the cases from separating, im having a hard time

the square should twist and go back and forth in a circular pattern casebolts sometimes there are some casebolts that you mised just look around the whole thing and then get a screwdriver under one of the sides and jimmy it up on all sides evenly to brake the seal.

Well I managed to get the cases apart and it looks pretty good inside. It's onnly a year old.

Supposedly this thing came off some kind of commercial rideon/standon fertilizer spreader that went 10-15 mph.

I did a little work on it and I have a pretty good idea of how to provide good support to it. Ill post inside pics and ideas a little later.
