Hey guys,
well i am amazing at braking things, however i survived over a year with my ipod, until the inevitable happened, the screen glass cracked :( and then the inevitable happened again... it cracked even more :roflol:

so i just ordered a new "digitizer" off... umm.. the norm, eBay. Just wondered if any of you guys have had to fix an ipod or iphone screen, and how hard it is.

if not, i will just follow the youtube vids and hope for the best :ack2:

be careful on opening them, my friend had to open his to fix the volume button and he broke a ton of wires and now its screwed for good......

It went good, i am now typing on my ipod with a new screen glass!
If anyone plans to do this i reccomend watching youtube vids and buying the digitizer with the plastic bezel and home button in one.

The digitizer is the glass panel in fromt of the screen that you touch, that also has all the touch sensivity stuff in it, so basically the touch screen.

The digitizer the panel BEHIND the glass... the actual "screen". You bought the wrong part... if your glass it cracked, but the image is fine, all you need it a .99$ piece of glass from Hong Kong, not the digitzer...

Yeah you may be right, but the chances of me removing the glass from the digitizer with the digitizer intact, and gluing it back onto a new glass without obscuring the screen more than the original crack is very low. I could also not buy just the glass, and i have made a deal with myself not to ever buy from hong kong again, as the customer service is crap and the items take about 3 weeks to come... All for the cost of £0.50 less.

Edit: it sounds like you are referring to the lcd screen.
The ipod and iphone screens consist of:
1: the lcd, which displays the image.
2: the glass, which consists of a small panel with what looks like very veryvery small wires running through (this is what makes it touch screen) and a panel of hard plastic/ glass.
