Check the all the older ads first, then register and try posting your own "wanted" ad for everything you need.
Kart racers end up accumulating a lot of spare parts like complete axle assemblies, some may not go to the trouble to post an ad to sell them, but would hopefully reply to your wanted ad...

Call/email this shop asking for new or used parts: http://www.ragekarts.com/

You could also try posting your own "Wanted Racekart Parts" ad in all the craigslist from towns near you. I've had really good luck finding all kinds of bargains doing this.

Anderkart my OD of the front spindle to spindle is 35" and the od from outside of the nerf bars is 41" ! Thanks for the help!

You should be fine with anywhere between a 40" and 44' long axle, but I'd suggest you contact Margay and ask them what type/length of axle your kart originally had. They would have selected/used the axle that best complemented that particular model chassis.

Ask Margay for all the setup info/specifications they have for your model, I'm sure they did a lot of testing and its common practice for racekart manufacturers to supply ALL owners with the base-line/default set up specifications.

Your rear wheel hubs clamp onto the axle where ever you want and allow you to adjust/fine-tune the rear track width most anywhere that makes the kart handle/hook-up best.

You'll find your rear wheel hubs are available in short medium and extra long length models, so you could always experiment with even more track widths by purchasing additional hubs. (buy mediums first) The axle will fit all the way through the center hole in race kart rims, so you could always try radically narrowing your rear track with to see if that improves handling too. Although wider track widths usually seem to work best on karts like yours on paved road course type racing. Dirt/paved oval racers tend to work better with narrower track widths.

My late-90's era Beisse B3 model kart (pictured below) is kinda similar to yours, but my frame is 2' wider in the back. I've got a 44" long x 40mm. axle. My kart handles best on paved road courses with an overall track width of 51" measured at the outer edge of the tires tread. I've got medium-length hubs on this kart:

Ok so getting ready to start getting my back axle together! What all do I need to buy to have a complete axle and also how many tooth sprocket should I get for a 7 hp techumsha? What kind of hubs etc..? I plan on using a 1 1/4 axle about 41-44"

Ok so can someone answer this for me? What's the difference in buying say a 1 1/4 axle vs a 40mm axle? is it just personal preference!

Axle ?

Can some one tell me the reason rear axles have snap rings? I have 62 ser margay 1 1/4 hubs Im thinking i wont need the snap rings, just curious! Thanks:huh:

Snap rings are usually used to hold an item along the length of your axle in one place. They form a 'shoulder against which things will fit, and therefor hold them there so that they don't slide around. I suppose if you have everything locked down tight on your axle then you don't need to worry about getting them. They can also be used to fasten your gear to the axle itself.

I am not the expert here, but if your stuff is locked down tight, don't worry. Or you can just be 100% safe and use them.

Ok next question! Dose anyone have the exact O.D. Measurement for an 1 1/4 axle? I have a machine shop that can make me an axle and need to know if it is 1.250 or alittle under! Also is there anything wrong with using a stainless steel solid axle, besides the weight issue! I don't really plan on racing it at this point so weight isn't an issue yet! Thanks guys! :thumbsup:

It's probably just under sized. My 1" axle was .998" all the way across. So 1.25" is probably more like 1.248". Although, my axle was a cheap solid steel axle. A solid stainless one wouldn't be bad. It would be very strong and highly corrosion resistant.

What is the purpose of a double keyway on an axle? Can you get away with just having one keyway the entire length?

You most certainly can! Now, my knowledge on this is limited, so let somebody else chime in, but I believe it's like this-

On a hollow axle, the keyways are at 180* from each other so you don't end up with a "weak" spot, whereas with a solid axle it doesn't matter, so one keyway is cut down the entire length.
