ok guys im in need of some knowledge. i have my kart partially assembled and had it up on jackstands and turned the motor on, the rear was off the ground, the torque converter woulnt quite go into a neutral state so i assume i need to loosen the belt a little bit. no big deal. but the motor did not respond to me hitting the throttle at all, but the choke did wonders! i am puzzled by this. also, it backfired a good bit when idling after it got hot. is this probably due to the kart being off the ground? Thank you for your help.

i was holding the lever that normally would control throttle on the motor, i loosened the nut so it is in variable speed, but it didnt really seem to do anything compared to the choke lever right next to it.

yes he did. he had a huge grin the whole time haha. he even hopped the curb with it. i took it out last weekend. that thing FLIES in the woods/ field. its amazing how something that feels so-so on the street seems like a terror off road haha. you get tunnel vision at top speed. Thank you guys yall have been a big help. next will be a race chassis with a ninja motor. but im still messing with this one, since the rear section is totally seperate i may put a v-twin on a new rear frame with one fat motorcycle tire, that would be fun with the same front end :) the current torque converter needs to be cleaned after every ride (it locks up after getting a little dirty) im going to make a little aluminum cover for it.
